Complete refurbishment of a double fronted Grade II listed house

This home renovation entailed a complete refurbishment of a double fronted Grade II listed house in Chelsea. The property originally compromised of décor which dated back to the 1970’s. The home was in desperate need of refreshing and modernisation. Given the Grade II listed status of the building, it was crucial to keep specific period features as part of the protected heritage.

The clients brief was based around achieving a family home suited to their needs and for the potential of the building to be maximised and modernised whilst maintaining the traditional architectural character. Throughout the process we paid great attention towards preserving the original envelope and soul of the building. We managed to nurture the building all throughout the refurbishment process, despite the structure of the building being in a delicate and a poor condition.

With strategic planning and tailored design of the space we were able to create an ideal family home comprising of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cloakroom, a spacious living room and a dining room. We also included a kitchen with a breakfast bar area with access to the rear courtyard.

We successfully introduced contemporary living into the property, gently balancing the original ornate features with modern pieces. We installed new timber floor throughout the home, bespoke joinery, Italian stone finishes and sanitaryware as well as underfloor heating. In this project we worked very closely with the client from the initial concept to completion, helping the client turn their vision into a reality.
