This Grade II listed building lies within the Kensington Square conservation area. The design brief was to give the apartment a full refurbishment including a new fitted kitchen and bathrooms. This project presented some challenges given its listed status especially on the new timber floor finishes. All of the proposed works were carefully examined and designed to ensure total compliance and consideration of the regulations set in place aimed at preserving the heritage of the building.
Details of the brief included restoration and refurbishment of the existing windows along with installation of acoustic glass that would be in accordance with the conservation area guidelines. We also implemented tailored interior alterations such as the replacement of doors with pocket sliding doors for a more seamless use of space. An important part of the brief was to enhance the existing decorative features of the apartment such as the skirting boards, architraves, and cornices. The apartment had been heavily modernised prior to the commencement of the project, and thus we desired to enhance back its heritage as part of our new approach.
